Signs of Love: Love

Signs of Love is a short series of signs for Valentine’s Day.

The culmination of your date — hopefully love! Love encompasses so much. To sign it, bring your arms to your chest, crossed as if you’re embracing someone you love.

Also, here are some tips on dating a deaf signer, courtesy of a few Twitter friends:

@DisModern: Patience and understanding of culture is so vital. See the other as an equal.

@artsyjena: It’s important they learn sign language for themselves, not just for their partners. Less resentment and more passion.

@escaliers: So true! Endeavours taken on for someone else that isn’t something you’d ever do for yourself often breed resentment. Relationships between a hearing and a deaf person have low chances of long-term success; the best relationships are where the hearing person moves completely into the “DeafWorld.”
