Signs of Love: Dinner

Signs of Love is a short series of signs for Valentine’s Day.

Today’s word is “Dinner.” You can’t go wrong with food, especially if it’s your treat! Deaf signers usually require a well-lit place in order to converse, so be sure to scope out the ambient light in the restaurant you plan to go to.

“Dinner” is a combination of two signs, “food” and “night.” To sign “food,” imagine that you’re holding a piece of bread with your hand and bring it to your mouth. Tap your mouth twice. Then hold your left arm out with your left hand balled into a fist. Your right hand should cover it, as if it were the “night” sky covering the Earth.

Come back tomorrow for an important sign – without it, you’ll miss the date!
